A day of thrifting in the Toyota Prius Prime

I think by now it’s pretty clear that one of my favorite things ever is thrifting. One of my very least favorite things, however, is filling up my car with gas. So much so, that I am one of those daredevils who will ride it out on empty until I’m dangerously close to running out and have to call AAA. (I’ve actually had to do that more times than I’d like to admit and once where I ran out of gas on a busy freeway, but I digress). Guess how many times I’ve had to fill up this Toyota Prius Prime in the last week I’ve been driving it all over Los Angeles and back and forth to Palm Springs? ZERO!!!! That’s right! ZERO! I can hardly believe it myself! This is my first experience with a plug-in hybrid and I’ve gotta say, I’m loving it! To get the very best thrift deals in Los Angeles, you’ve gotta get OUT of Los Angeles, so I knew I wanted to test out the charge by driving to Pasadena to pick up Mary Kate, then to Whittier to shop King Richard’s Antique Center. Come along and see what we found!

Let’s Go Thrifting

In the Toyota Prius Prime!

After we got over our extreme excitement to see each other and go thrifting, the first thing Mary Kate commented on when she got in the car was how roomy and comfortable it was! She actually has a 2015 Toyota Prius and was super impressed with the large navigation screen and added space in the Prius Prime.

Literally jumping for joy.

We headed out to King Richard’s Antiques excited that we had the trunk space to fill up on thrifted treasure! The drive took us just over 30 minutes and was very comfortable.

King Richard’s is the largest Antique and vintage center in Los Angeles and CA with over 1 acre of antiques! It’s a veritable treasure trove of vintage goods and features 3 floors and tons of different vendors and booths with clothing, furniture, decor and more! The second you walk in the door you’re greeted by a juxtaposition of 80’s style bamboo furniture, vintage furs and macabre oddities like taxidermy bats. There truly is something for everyone!

We hit the ground running and headed straight for the best vintage clothing on the 2nd floor. I knew I had to have this zig zag blouse and this adorable 60’s floral top. The bird bucket hat, however, was left behind.

We covered every square inch of this incredible warehouse , leaving no stone unturned. We saw so many beautiful pieces but this solid maple coffee table took my breath away! I knew it had to come home with me and the best part was, I didn’t have to worry about it fitting in my car!

Fit like a glove with plenty of room to spare! I should have bought more!

Best of all, as you can see, after all of that driving around, I still had a charge! It was so nice to not have to worry about filling up! We had such a fun day exploring, driving and hanging out and I hope you had fun coming along with us!
